The Town of Urbanna's Founders Day 2022
Come one, come all! Urbanna is again celebrating its founding, this year on Saturday, August 6th! The festivities will start at 10:15 am at 51 Cross Street with the Town Crier and Fife & Drum marching through town to the historic Urbanna Baptist Church. Skilled and acclaimed colonial interpreters from Colonial Williamsburg will help Urbanna celebrate at 11 am at the church, portraying Patrick Henry and George Wythe. These two gentlemen will engage in an entertaining, lively, and realistic debate about the ratification of the Constitution of the United States.
Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase online at urbanna.com/foundersday, at Bristow's Store, If Its Wood & More, and Urbanna Trading Co, or at the church door with cash or check only. Children under 12 are free.
More colonial history activities will take place from 11am to 4pm at the nearby Urbanna Museum and Visitors Center -- the last remaining Scottish Factor Store in the US. Here visitors can see and learn about the original copy of the remarkable Mitchell Map and its impact on Virginia and American history, Historian Barbara Lovelace will share the history of the Scottish Factor Store, while visitors can browse the 18th century herb garden and children can participate in colonial games.
Come enjoy all the colonial events of the day in the quaint and historic town of Urbanna, with its friendly and welcoming people, several excellent restaurants, and multiple unique boutiques.
