Personal Property Tax Information through Citizen Self Service Portal

Treasurer’s Office Pleased to Provide Access to Personal Property Tax Information through Citizen Self Service Portal
The Gloucester County Treasurer’s office announced this week that its online portal for taxpayers to access their Personal Property tax information is up and running. The new service can easily be accessed through the Treasurer’s Office webpage at www.gloucesterva.info/314/Treasurers-Office.

“For years, we have received requests from taxpayers to be able to access their Personal Property Tax information online,” said Gloucester Treasurer Tara Thomas. “It’s really a way of
life for many citizens, especially those of younger generations, and we pride ourselves on providing the tools for citizens to do business with the County wherever and whenever they choose.”
The information that is available through the new site is displayed in “real time” so that, for example, citizens will be able to see if their payment has been posted to their account. The system will also allow the taxpayer to view their current balance and see their corrected balance if the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office has made an adjustment. The Personal Property Tax information being made available online is another step in the Treasurer’s Office bringing improvements to the online services it offers citizens.

This past spring, the office launched its Real Estate Tax research functionality. The Personal Property Tax access is provided through the same system; however, since most Personal Property Tax
information is confidential, different system controls have been put in place to protect access to that information.

To access the Personal Property Tax information, theitizen will need to set up a user ID and password. To search for an account, the user will then be prompted to provide their property ID (located on the tax bill) and the last four digits of their Social Security Number.

Persons needing assistance can contact the Treasurer’s Office by calling 804-693-2141 or by e-mailing treasurer@gloucesterva.info. The office will have to confirm the requestor is the account

owner before providing the information.

Last year, the Treasurer’s Office implemented reduced fees to pay by credit card and eliminated the fees to pay by e-check.
