June Primary Election Postponed

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam exercised his statutory authority, postponing June’s Primary Election from June 9th to June 23rd. The announcement was made during the Governor’s latest COVID-19 Press Briefing on April 8th. Gloucester’s Voter Registrar’s office is working toward implementing procedures responsive to this change.

“We continue to encourage voters to protect their health during the COVID-19 outbreak by voting absentee by mail,” said Bobbi Morgan, Gloucester County’s Voter Registrar. She said voters may choose reason “2A My Disability or Illness” for absentee voting by mail in the June elections due to COVID-19. “Voters who choose the absentee option should do so as soon as possible so they can get their ballots in time to return them by mail on Election Day,” Morgan added. Voters can apply for Absentee Ballots by mail at https: //www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal/.

Morgan asked voters to please be patient with the Registrar’s Office as staff prepare for this change and other potential future changes in the election process. She said all other information regarding the June Dual Primary in Gloucester can be found by visiting www.gloucesterva.info/349/VoterRegistrar.
