Jan WeltersReady to watch Seal sing some Sinatra?
Following the release of his new album of classic covers aptly-titled Standards, a sneak peek has been released of his live show for the PBS concert series Front and Center, which will air early next year.
The clip features Seal channeling Frank Sinatra in a live performance of the Guys and Dolls classic “Luck Be a Lady” at Vibrato Jazz Grill in Los Angeles. Dressed in a sleek black suit, Seal croons in front of a captivated audience with the backing of a lively jazz band.
His Standards album, released Friday, also includes his renditions of Ella Fitzgerald‘s “I’m Beginning to See the Light” and Nina Simone‘s “I Put a Spell on You.”
“This is the album I have always wanted to make,” Seal previously said in a statement. “I grew up listening to music from the Rat Pack era, so recording these timeless tunes was a lifelong dream.”
While making the album, he collaborated with some of the same musicians who performed with Sinatra and some of his other favorite artists. He also recorded the album in the same studio where his idols recorded — the famous Capitol Records in Los Angeles.
The deluxe version of the album features two Christmas classics: “The Christmas Song” and “Let It Snow.”
