Image Group LA/ABCYes, Taylor Swift likes her privacy, but no, she is not having her security detail smuggle her out of her New York City apartment in a giant suitcase.
Splash News photo service caused a commotion yesterday by putting out a photo of burly guys lugging a big black case out of Taylor’s apartment, and captioning it, “Taylor Swift being transported in a huge suitcase from her Tribeca apartment into her truck.”
However, a Splash News representative then told Spin later on Monday, “I literally just put the phone down from someone on Taylor’s camp. We’re having to actually retract that.”
The representative admitted to Spin that the person who took the photo was “not really a regular photographer that we use,” and had neglected to personally verify that Taylor was in the case before stating it as fact. The caption now reads, “Taylor Swift’s security guards are seen moving a huge case into the trunk of an awaiting SUV.”
People still believed the initial story, though, because it’s somewhat plausible. After all, Taylor is very good at keeping things under wraps. Scott Borchetta, the CEO of her record label, told E! Online over the weekend, “You can absolutely expect more Taylor Swift music. But…with Taylor…she is the broadcaster. When she is ready to tell her fans when she’s coming back, she will do it.”
He added, “We have a rule and a saying at the label: The first rule of the Taylor Club is don’t talk about Taylor Club.”
